Government Web Content Filter
The Australian Government has released free internet filters for your home PC to help protect Australian families on the internet.
Currently there are four free programs to download and choose on the government website :
Comparison table
I have trialled the program Integard v1.04 and found the features and benefits very easy to use and configure.
Once downloaded, installation is very easy and the activation/registration is fully automated.
Integard offers a data limit which can be applied to prevent going over your monthly downloads.
Time limits - You can choose time limits where a user can access the internet
and the ability to customise different profiles for different users eg. adults profile, a child's profile etc.
Integard is an internet content filter that blocks inappropriate content, monitors chat and supports multiple user profiles. It provides state-of-the-art blocking accuracy through dynamic page analysis and a continuously updated database of known websites.
The government has also released Safe Eye's which is the internet filter program compatible for MAC and windows.
Safe Eyes makes it easy to block or monitor access to objectionable online material. You can set profiles for multiple users within a household, view usage reports per user and receive instant alerts when access to inappropriate content is attempted.

Clean Up your PC
A PC can store a lot of information. Some of this can be unnecessary for the day to day running of your PC. Over time, temporary internet files and old program installation files can number into the tens of thousands and take up several hundred Megabytes (sometimes even Gigabytes!).
These files are included in every virus scan / defrag performed on the computer, adding needless time to finish the task. This is where a program called CCleaner comes in handy. CCleaner optimises your PC by removing all the 'Crap' (this is what the "C" in CCleaner stands for!).
Not only does it clean the machine, but it also helps promote user privacy by removing browsing history, cookies, cache etc.

Tomerong School Country Fair
I.T. Basecamp
Proud sponsor of the Tomerong School Country Fair
A great success !
In the early-morning light of Saturday September 22nd, the sleepy village of Tomerong awoke to the buzz of activity - the like of which had not been witnessed for two years. It was Country Fair day and the many months of planning by its huge team of volunteers was about to come to fruition.
The giant wheel of the Round-Up signalled the arrival of the rides and hoards of children ran to the oval to watch them being set-up. By 8am, the BBQ was fired up and the smell of egg, bacon and sausages permeated the grounds. The Fair had begun.
All day, the busy team of parents - past and present, grandparents, students, past-students, staff and friends of Tomerong Public School happily welcomed and served the thousands of visitors to the school.
Earlier in the year, a dedicated group of people came together and over the following months pulled together a fantastic Country Fair, which earned much needed funds for the school. The day was a tribute to the strong spirit of community that exists in Tomerong. The magnificent show of support from Tomerong’s neighbouring community groups and business sponsors shows that the spirit of co-operation and community is alive and well throughout the Bay and Basin.
Tomerong School’s P & C wishes to extend an enormous thank you to the countless individuals, groups and businesses who contributed in so many ways to making this year’s Fair the resounding success that it was.
